Marty Hazell, with over two decades of experience in the Building and Construction Industry, brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to every project. His journey began during his school days in Sydney, NSW, when he was 15. He would skip school for a day here and there to work for a couple of the tradies in his soccer team. One of these guys was a Carpenter, who ran his own crew to stand house frames while the other specialised in commercial shopfitting.

Marty’s fascination with tools and the dynamic nature of construction work fuelled his determination. Unlike a desk-bound job, he relished the idea of being on the move, creating, and problem-solving. After completing his Higher School Certificate (HSC), Marty secured an Apprenticeship in Offsite Construction and Shopfitting, primarily focusing on cabinetmaking. Upon finishing his Apprenticeship, Marty didn’t stick around in Sydney, for long. A phone call to that carpenter he would work with instead of going to school got him over to Perth, WA, where he honed his skills in fix-out carpentry and property repairs for the Department of Housing.

It was contracting in Perth where he met his now wife, Alice, who was working in the office for the company he was contracting to. 5 years later Alice and Marty decided to take a working holiday to Coffs Harbour, located on the Mid-North Coast of NSW. Marty had the opportunity to take a supervising job for the lead contractor on the Land and Housing Contract (LAHC), where he continued to work on Department of Housing properties, but in a supervisory and management capacity.

After Alice and Marty were married in late 2019, they decided to head back to Perth to settle down. Arriving home to Perth in January 2020, the plan at the time had been to settle back into Perth and start up a renovations business just like they had discussed and planned for, while in Coffs Harbour. However, Covid and the news of a baby boy on the way put a halt on these plans, due to the financial uncertainty. Marty put the resume out and got a secure job working as a site supervisor/estimator for an insurance repair panel builder, where he has been working up until April 2024.

Marty left his employer on good terms in April 2024. His departure is so amicable that he continues to work as a contractor for them.

Armed with experience, passion, and a vision, Marty and Alice, are finally ready to turn their dream of running a house alteration and renovations business into reality.
